A Day for Prayer

Remembering 9/11/2001

Some would rather forget what happened on this date 22 years ago. Some are too young to remember. Some can never forget because of a loved one lost on that day or in the wars during the years that followed. Most of us will be reminded by news reports or a local ceremony and spend a few minutes remembering something, perhaps where we were, what we were doing, how we felt.

I choose to remember the good that came out of that day and humbly ask God what he wants me to know and remember about those tragic events. That can bring up some hard questions for Him in my heart. Why does He let such things happen is the big one. Like most people of faith from the ancient Israelites to 21st century Christians in America, I struggle with His answers or lack thereof. But two years ago, I found something that has helped me in a small way. It is the words of a man who has a very unique perspective on the events of September 11th, 2001. Here is a portion of his remarks:
