A Thanksgiving message

One of the best things about the approaching holiday season is the gatherings. Thanksgiving is traditionally our first opportunity to do that. People have many different reasons to be thankful including for the chance to get together. Of course, that can be a mixed blessing. We may be thankful to have had the opportunity to see a dear friend or loved one whom we have not seen in a while. Other times we may leave the gathering thankful that an annoying in-law or uncle doesn't live closer to home. Hopefully your gathering will be a blessing.

In America today Thanksgiving is primarily about parades, turkey, football, and according to police records and alcohol sales, lot’s and lot’s of drinking. While many of us still pause to say a prayer of thanksgiving at our holiday meals, I doubt that we often reflect on why the holiday exists.
