Choosing Peace on Election Day
If today feels really heavy on your heart, maybe the best thing to do right now is ask yourself why. I realize that election Day brings a mix of anticipation and anxiety, as we wonder what the future holds. It's hard for non-believers not to feel invested, even anxious. But is that really the way we should feel as Christians?
Lately, I’ve been thinking more deeply about what it means to be a citizen, not just of this country but of something far greater. Paul’s words in Philippians come to mind: “But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ” (Philippians 3:20). As Christians, we’re citizens of God’s Kingdom. And when I remember that, focus my heart on what that means, everything seems a bit less urgent.
