The Golden Stitch in Heaven and Earth
An immersive Bible study about the great message of Matthew.
When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law – Matthew 7:28-29
Think for a moment about your favorite teacher or professor—the one who stands out in your memory as the best of the best? Jesus was like that, only much better. He was the greatest teacher to ever live. Despite all the amazing accomplishments we have made in over 2,000 years since, the art of teaching has never surpassed the excellence that Christ demonstrated in the first century.
Encompassing chapters 5, 6, and 7 of the book of Matthew, the Sermon on the Mount was his masterwork. In this sermon, Jesus is pointing us toward a miracle he was in the process of creating and laying out a roadmap that we could use to find it after his work was complete.
Before we explore the sermon in greater detail, let’s take a closer, somewhat metaphorical look at the miracle—what Jesus actually did that this message was preparing the world to embrace. I’m going to try to paint a mental picture of how I envision it in my heart.
